ANNIVERSARY OF JIMI HENDRIX’S DEATH: If you are a rock and roll music fan, you must have heard of Jimi Hendrix. He was one of the best guitarists the world has ever known. He was only 27 years old when he died on September 18, 1970. In the short period of his life he expanded the capabilities and possibilities of the electric guitar, taking it into territories that no other musician had never explored. An interesting fact about him that very few people may know is that he was left handed, but he frequently played the guitar upside down and upside down.

  1. At the time of his birth, Jimi was called Johnny Allen Hendrix, but was later changed to James Marshall by his father James “Al” Hendrix. Jimi was born at 10:15 a.m. on November 27, 1942.
  2. During his performances, Hendrix used three 100-watt Marshall Super Lead amplifiers. Usually Jimi would play them in unison and turn the control knobs to maximum level, and this became known as Jimi Hendrix amp tuning.
  3. He was using the name Jimmy Hendrix when he arrived in London in 1966 with the intention of discovering himself as a musician. Then Chas Chandler, a former Animals bassist and manager, suggested that he change his name to “Jimi”.
  4. Jimi’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at Woodstock was ranked first on Guitar World’s 100 Greatest Performances list in December 2011.
  5. Jimi suffered from barbiturate-related asphyxia and had choked on his own vomit, according to an autopsy and subsequent inquest.
  6. During his childhood, Jimi used to strum a broom at home like a guitar and that’s when his father saw his love for music and gave him an old one-string ukulele, followed by five-dollar used acoustic guitar.
