The compositions of the present invention are emulsions comprising polymeric colloidal particles which are functionalized with an organosilicon compound. Polymeric colloidal particles can fill surface defects in glass due to their size smaller than surface defects, and functional groups on them can react with the surface of the glass to anchor the particles in the defects.
