Dave Navarro, life and legacy of the guitarist of the “Red Hot Chili Peppers”
David Navaro is an American guitarist and singer who is popular for playing with a rock band Jane’s Addiction and the Hot red peppers.
Navarro, considered the most creative guitarist, released a solo album “Trust No One” in 2001. He also owns an entertainment company and hosts a weekly radio show.

Dave Navarro – Youth
David Michael Navarro was born in 1967 in Santa Monica, California. Navarro was the only child of his parents. Gabriel Navarro, Dave’s grandfather immigrated from Mexico to Los Angeles.
Dave’s parents separated when he was only seven years old. He moved with his mother to reside in Bel Air. Per the custody arrangement, Dave had designated days in the year to spend time with his father.
Dave Navarro – Jane’s Addiction
In 1986, Navarro joined rock band Jane’s Addiction as lead guitarist. Stephen Perkins, drummer for Jane’s Addiction, is a childhood friend of Navarro. The group enjoyed success in the early days, but it was short-lived.
They used to perform at small local venues and released a demo tape which was re-recorded with Dave’s guitar. The band then signed with Triple X Records and released a self-titled live album in 1987. As the band became popular, they signed with Warner Bros and their album “Nothing’s Shocking” was released in 1988.
The band Jane’s Addiction had a fan following limited to the Los Angeles area while in other cities there isn’t much hype around the band. Due to issues such as internal turmoil, drug use began to create problems among the band members.
They managed to release another album, Ritual de lo Habitual in 1990, but the band began to disintegrate. The singer of the group Perry Farrell had the amazing idea to create a music festival that would occur in different cities of the United States, nicknaming it Lollapalooza.
Dave Navarro – Red Hot Chili Peppers
Navarro was first invited by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers to tour with them in 1992, which he turned down. He felt exhausted and also turned down many offers like that of metal band Guns ‘N’ Roses. He wanted to focus primarily on creation.
In 1993, Navarro officially joined the rock group “Red Hot Chili Peppers”. The band traveled to Hawaii for 30 days so they could spend time together and work on songwriting simultaneously in 1994. Chad Smith and Navarro became great friends.
In 1994, the Red Hot Chili Peppers took part in the second Woodstock and then released their album “One Hot Minute” in 1995. Even though the band had assured that everything was fine and all band members got along well, but The fact of the matter was that cracks began to appear and the band members were increasingly involved in drug addiction. In 1998 Dave decided to leave the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Dave and Chad Smith planned to create Stream Entertainment in 1997. They worked on a few songs and released an album called “Unicorns & Rainbows: The Pelican”.
But things didn’t go as planned as Warner Bros rejected the album. Chad decided to move forward with the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Dave started his own portal 6767.com and he used to interact with fans via Q&A sessions. Dave opted for an image of a unicorn head with a capital S as the logo for Spread Entertainment.
Drug and alcohol addiction
Dave didn’t shy away from talking about his addiction issues. He was very depressed and filled with grief after the death of his mother and other problems he had during his student years.
He started taking drugs and alcohol to get relief from the pain. During the early years of Jane’s Addiction, the band used to discuss their addictions in public forums.
Dave checked himself into rehab in 1991 in an attempt to get sober. He also changed his diet to vegan and used to exercise regularly.
During the “Relapse” tour, Dave started doing drugs again and he was in terrible shape. Family and supporters were very concerned about his condition and really wanted him to return to rehab.

Dave is known for his iconic symbols and numbers. He has tattoos all over his body.
His portal concept 6767.com coincided with his date of birth, June 7, 1967. Also, the sum of 13 (6+7) is the birthday of his grandfather and father.
When he created Spread Entertainment, the logo consisted of a unicorn head surrounded by a capital “S”. He collected unicorns in the form of figurines and plush versions.
Dave Navarro – Personal Life
Navarro and Tania Goddard performed a ritual fasting ceremony in 1990, but it was not recognized as a legal marriage. As part of the ceremony, Tania and Dave made cuts in their palms and brought them together. The couple separated after a few years.
Dave married Rhian Gittins in Las Vegas in 1994, but the marriage was called off in just five days. It was a big setback for Dave and he expressed his pain in a self-pressed EP, titled “Rhimorse”.
The album was never released but many of his songs were reworked on his 2001 solo album “Trust No One”.
Later, Dave started dating singer/actress Carmen Electra and married her in a lavish ceremony in 2003. Even that marriage didn’t last long and he filed for divorce in 2007.
The 54-year-old Jane’s Addiction guitarist also made headlines a few years ago for dating political analyst and Fox commentator Andrea Tantaros.
Going by one of the posts shared by Dave on his Instagram account, he is currently in a relationship with actress Vanessa DuBasso.
