Eurovision 2022 viewers ‘cringe’ as Italian presenters slammed ‘awkward and unfunny’

Eurovision is back for 2022 and this year it is presented at the Pala Olimpico Arena in Turin, Italy by singer-songwriter Mika alongside Italian presenter Alessandro Cattelan and Italian singer Laura Pausini.

His long-awaited return has been eagerly awaited by Eurovision fans, with millions tuning in to watch the performances from 25 countries around the world. But despite its popularity, viewers were less than impressed with this year’s presenters, calling them “awkward” and “unfunny”.

One Twitter user wrote: “#Eurovision Worst presenters ever. Ditch them now.”, while another added: “Presenters need to shut up they’re so not funny it hurts # Eurovision”

A third person also commented, “The dog sleeps throughout the presenter’s ‘comedy’ segments.” Lucky boy.” A fourth person wrote: “The Eurovision Song Contest is great so far I think apart from the awkward and not very funny presenters.”

A fifth person said: “Grumpy presenters are just a #Eurovision tradition” and another said: “those presenters! They are so annoying!”

This year the UK is represented by TikTok star Sam Ryder, 32, with his uplifting pop song Space Man. Fans who watched the widely shared video of the performance online were blown away by his vocals and the guitar solo he does as Space Man reaches a heartbreaking crescendo.

His song reflects the positivity the artist continues to exude through his optimistic outlook on life. The line “Gravity keeps pulling me down” and “I’ve been in black holes” taps into the most negative things in life that cause sadness.

The Essex singer first rose to fame during the coronavirus lockdown in 2020 when he posted music on social media platform TikTok. At a time when the world was shrouded in darkness, Ryder found the light and began producing covers of pop songs.

Ryder has covered tracks from Sia, Alicia Keys and Justin Bieber, among others. Famous American singer Keys even commented on Ryder’s cover of her hit If I Ain’t Got You, putting the British star in the spotlight.
