Former GHOUL & IMPALED guitarist ANDREW LABARRE dies aged 43
Ancient Ghoul and Impaled guitarist André LaBarre died aged 43 from Lou Gehrig’s disease (also known as ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). Impaled announced the sad news on his Facebook page with the following statement:
“Impaled is saddened to learn that our former guitarist and vocalist André LaBarre died of ALS. He was an incredibly gifted guitarist, songwriter and sound engineer, and a nice guy in every way. His contributions to Impaled during the Mondo Medicale the band’s era were huge and helped shape what we do musically in a way that has lasted to this day. He will be greatly missed.”
Bar played in Impaled between 2001 and 2004, and in Ghoul between 2001 and 2003. We wish Barfriends and family of all the best right now. In a 2018 interview with invisible oranges, Bar said he eventually shifted his focus from music to competitive biking after losing the creative spark for guitar. Yet his contributions to both groups are deadly. Check them out below.
“Well, I got super at cycling…I just got super at competitive bike racing and that’s what I am. It’s one thing, total focus, and I don’t have not a variety of hobbies, it’s just a thing that I do. So with music… I was just in a weird place where I didn’t know what I wanted to play. I kind of lost of creative spark that now just comes randomly I always come up with riffs but it’s not… I don’t I don’t have the advantage I had back then There was an advantage where my whole life was playing guitar and writing music, that’s all i did, really.
