Former Steely Dan/Doobie Brothers guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter releases his first solo album, “Speed ​​of Heat”

Ancient dan of steel and Doobie Brothers guitarist Jeff “Skunk” Baxter released his first solo album, Heat speedFriday.

The 12-track collection features a mix of original tracks and selected covers. Among the latter are versions of classic Steely Dan “My old schooland “Do It Again”, and the 1960 instrumental “Apache” which was popularized by The shadows.

The album features Baxter singing on some tracks, along with guest vocalists and musicians, including his former Doobie Brothers bandmate. Michael McDonaldcountry star Wink Black and blues rocker Jonny Lang.

Baxter’s main collaborator on Heat speed was a veteran producer, composer and keyboardist CJ Vanston.

“It’s something very new to me, having never put the time and energy into creating a solo project before,” said Baxter on Heat speed. “It was very fun and very satisfying to do something for myself, instead of being a hitman (it’s not that I don’t like working in the studio, producing and performing live with other people. Meanwhile, Baxter plans to announce a West Coast tour soon in support of the album.
