‘It’s absolutely criminal’ that the Scorpions weren’t inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, says Skid Row guitarist

In a new interview with Andy Hall from radio station Des Moines, Iowa Laser 103.3, SKID RANK guitarist Dave “Snake” Sabowhose group currently supports the SCORPIO on the dates postponed from their “Sin City Nights” residence, weighed in on the exclusion of the legendary German hard rockers from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “It’s criminal. It’s absolutely criminal. They paved the way for so many bands. And so many people probably don’t even realize it, but they’ve had a huge influence on so much contemporary music today. Their songwriting, their hooks – they’re just undeniable. Their musical acumen – still undeniable. And yes, it’s criminal that they’re not in the Hall of Fame; this is absolutely ridiculous. They should be hailed, not just for their work, but what an incredible group they have been for decades.”

Elaborate on what makes SCORPIO so special, Sabo said: “They’re masters of their craft; they always have been. They’re one of the best live bands I’ve ever seen. Their abilities are incredibly, I think, underrated. If you watch them play, they’re an absolute machine. It’s amazing. I’ve never seen them where they weren’t great – ever. Moscow Peace Music Festival in 1989 playing Vegas with them now in 2022 they are still great because they are dedicated to their craft. They are great musicians, great singers, great performers. So every night we go there, we know we have to be on top of our game if we want to be in the same arena as them.”

SCORPIO were eligible for the rock room since 1997 but have yet to be nominated despite being the most successful rock band to call Germany home, as well as having several FM radio anthems under their belt including “Rock You Like a Hurricane”, “Nobody Like You” and “Big City Nights”.

Two years ago, SCORPIO guitarist Matthias Jabs Told Laser 103.3 on the possibility that his group will one day be inducted into the rock room“We wondered, then we stopped wondering. You never say never. Maybe next year. Maybe at some point in the future. We haven’t given up, but it’s kinda surprising that we haven’t really been but lately there are a few rock bands that have at least been featured and mentioned, like MOTORHEADfor example; JUDAS PRIEST for the second time. I haven’t followed him much in the last few years, because they always ignored us. I have a feeling now that it could happen in the near future. I personally feel it’s well deserved, but if it doesn’t happen, it doesn’t happen. But let’s see.”

Four years ago, SCORPIO singer Klaus Meine said the band “would be very honored” to one day be inducted into the rock room. “To be inducted into Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would definitely be something,” he said. “And I think our fans around the world would be proud of that as well. It is something very special after all. And I know my friend Jon Bon Jovi been… BON JOVI, they were inducted recently, so I think there might be a change in policy, like when they start putting in heavy metal or classic rock bands now; they haven’t done that in, I think, forever. And there are plenty of bands that would be proud to be inducted. And for us, to be a European band, to be a German band, that would mean the world. »

SCORPIO previously played a mini-residency in Las Vegas in May 2016, consisting of five shows at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Support on these dates came from QUEENSRŸCHE.
