Managing Director John Song highlights record year for Baird

John song, Managing Director of Baird and a 2021 Wash100 Price recipient, recently released a full breakdown of the company’s 2021 achievements, which includes its government and defense M&A team that closed 21 deals totaling more than $7.5 billion in total value.

“By all accounts, 2021 has been a banner year for the government and defense sector – deal volume, M&A valuations and capital inflows into private equity, corporates, venture capital, SPACs and lenders,” John Song said.

“We saw an acceleration of highly strategic deals at super premium valuations and continued preemptive buyer interest. It was also a year of investments in disruptive technologies including space, autonomy , electronic warfare and AI/ML,” added Song.

In addition, Song also celebrated Baird’s 2021 client accomplishments, including their expansion into key federal priorities such as C4ISR, data analytics, digital transformation, healthcare and other technologies across the country. DoD, Intel and civilian agencies.

“It was also a banner year for Baird’s Equity Capital Markets practice, which evaluated 47 IPOs and 57 follow-on offerings,” Song explained. “We are proud of our award-winning equity research team, which covers notable industry names in major defense, defense technology and government services companies.”

John Song also mentioned the 1,200 industry executives and registered investors who attended Baird’s 4th Annual Conference Government and Defense Conference back in November.
