PAUL GILBERT jams with DRAGONFORCE guitarist HERMAN LI for the JASON BECKER fundraiser
Throughout April, some of the world’s greatest guitarists have come together to fundraise and celebrate the music of legendary guitarist and songwriter Jason Becker, who has lived with ALS for over 30 years and continues to compose and to record music.
The virtual event, organized in part by DragonForce guitarist Herman Li, had three components:
1) A Live Telethon-Style Fundraiser on Twitch: Special guests have appeared on Herman Li’s Twitch channel (twitch.tv/hermanli) to play, jam, and participate in fan-generated challenges all over the place. money raised going directly to Jason’s medical trust.
2) The artists donated signed guitars, merchandise and other rare items which will be sold through a special Reverb store to benefit Jason. Details to be determined.
3) Three of Jason’s most important guitars will be auctioned later this year, including guitars seen on the covers of Perpetual Burn, Speed Metal Symphony and the original “Numbers” guitar played by Eddie Van Halen. Details to be determined.

Shot earlier this year, Li hosted Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big, Racer X) Mr. Big on his Shred Talk stream for the Jason Becker fundraiser. He uploaded the images on October 1.
Li made the following statement regarding the fundraiser: “I have been a huge Jason Becker fan since I was young, and it is one of the greatest honors of my life to be able to help organize this tribute and fundraising for him. I still have a poster of Jason Becker in my studio in London. It was very inspiring to see everyone come together to celebrate Jason. “
Jason Becker said: “I am so grateful for all the love and support everyone has given me and my family. As far as selling my guitars is concerned, it is sad and I don’t. shouldn’t have to, I just want you to know that’s not how I feel. It makes me happy to see other people playing my music. I feel good to pass on my guitars, thinking they mean something. thing for others. I can’t play them now, but others can. That’s a good thing. And, I want my family and I not to have to worry about the money, if possible. Thanks for all the love, I’ll send it back to you right away. “
