Stellenbosch singer and songwriter Hilton Mandela Andries to host extravagant music event this weekend

South African singer and songwriter Hilton Mandela Andries, who released his latest single Móre Sal Die Son Weer Skyn in July, is set to headline his last concert this weekend in Stellenbosch.

The 37-year-old artist from Cloetesville, Stellenbosch started singing at the age of 3 and has been singing professionally for 15 years.

Andries grew up in a family of artists and has had music in his veins throughout his life. His passion for the stage is unparalleled and he can finally share his talents on Saturday October 2, 2021, when he presents his production “MY WAY” at the Drostdy Theater in Stellenbosch.

Andries will be joined on stage by some of Cape Town’s talented artists such as Melissa Van Der Spuy, Whaden John, Robin Fourie and the Crescendo Orchestra. The production is made possible by ATKV-Crescendo.

“When it comes to music, my way of doing things isn’t necessarily the way you do things on stage – it automatically makes us both unique as artists and how we express ourselves. celebrating memories, life and the authentic me, ”says Andries.

The concept of this performance is also “to accept all the stones that come your way with open arms and not to throw them back, but to take those stones and build a bridge”.

With songs from Marthie Hauptfleisch, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra and of course his original songs too, audiences should expect to be entertained by guest performers and an orchestra.

MORE ABOUT HILTON MANDELA ANDRIES
Having attended elementary and secondary schools in Cloetesville, Hilton harnessed his musical talents by singing in Sunday school performances as well as in school choirs.
Hilton began hosting events at the age of 16, and his love for theater and music led him to pursue a career in the arts and entertainment industry.

After enrolling in 2002, Hilton studied environmental health at CPUT (then known as Pentech) and in his second year of study he chose to pursue the entertainment industry full time. , after being summoned to a hearing.

As an actor, he initially focused solely on drama and stepped back his vocals a bit, before spotting an ad in a newspaper detailing news of AKTV’s musical auditions in 2016. He returned auditioning for ATKV again in 2017 and that’s when he conceptualized the song Hier Is Ek – as a tribute to his mother, who had been living with Parkinson’s for 25 years at the time – and he had taken care for her for 17 of those 25 years.

His mother passed away in March 2018, and to deal with the heaviness of anxiety, depression and loss of his mother, he reworked his song Hier Is Ek, so release Móre Sal Die Son Weer Skyn, which was produced by Melvin Williams.

Hilton describes Móre Sal Die Son Weer Skyn as “one of those songs that can help you overcome any challenge and give you comfort, especially when you lose.”

“I pray that the song will bring hope to every listener whose cross sometimes becomes too heavy,” he shares.
